Bulldogs beat Rivermen 4-1

Township of Langley, BC (Saturday, October 24, 2015) –The Langley Rivermen suffered a 4-1 loss to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre. It marked the first meeting of the year between the two teams. It was the start of a four game home-stand for Langley.

The Bulldogs hit the score sheet first at the 3:53 mark on the power play. Leading scorer Josh Adkins tipped in a point shot past Bo Didur for his fifth goal of the season. With time winding down in the period, Matthew Graham pounced on a rebound in front of Carson Schamerhorn and buried his sixth goal of the season. Adam Sinclair helped out with the only assist at 18:01. Langley led the shot count at 13-8 after 20 minutes.

In the second period, Alberni Valley reclaimed the lead at 14:47 on Adkins second goal of the night. That marker turned out to be the only one of the frame. The Bulldogs fired 15 shots towards Didur, while the Rivermen had five on Schamerhorn.

Josh Adkins continued to provide offense in the third period, as he scored his hat-trick goal at 9:31 to make it a 3-1 Bulldogs lead. In the final minute, with Didur at the bench, Liam Conrad iced the game with an empty net goal to make it a 4-1 final.

Adkins career night proved to be the difference for Alberni Valley with three of their four goals. With the loss, the Rivermen now own a 9-6-0-0 record for 18 points. The Bulldogs picked up their second road win on the season, and are now 5-7-1-1. The Riv host the Coquitlam Express on Friday, October 30th at 7:15pm.
