Ginnetti commits to Clarkson University

Township of Langley, BC (Thursday, January 14, 2016) – The Langley Rivermen are pleased to announce defenseman Cameron Ginnetti (1998 born) has earned an NCAA Division I scholarship to Clarkson University beginning in the 2017-18 season.

The 17-year-old from Vancouver, BC is in his first season in the BCHL, and in 33 games, has recorded 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points. Ginnetti will join teammate Jordan Schneider at Clarkson, who is committed there for next season.

“I am extremely excited to commit to Clarkson University. It has always been a goal of mine to play for a Division I school and I am looking forward to playing at that level,” said Ginnetti.

Clarkson University is a private research school in Potsdam, New York and enrols over 37-hundred students. The team plays in the ECAC Hockey conference. Notable names to graduate from Clarkson include former NHL players and Stanley Cup champions Willie Mitchell, Erik Cole and Todd Marchant.

“I have heard nothing but great things about the school and the campus. Their academics have a great reputation and I like how passionate the university is about their hockey program,” continued Ginnetti.

Rivermen Head Coach and General Manager Bobby Henderson believes this is a great fit for both sides.

“We are extremely excited for Cam and his family on this accomplishment. We feel that he is going to flourish really well there from an athletic and academic perspective. They have shown an interest in him since he got here, and like us, have been impressed with his development,” said Henderson.

The Rivermen are now up to 10 NCAA division I commitments on the season.

The Rivermen have two games scheduled this weekend. On Friday, January 15, they are in Coquitlam to take on the Express at 7:00pm at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Centre. A night later, they play host to the Nanaimo Clippers at 6:00pm at the Langley Events Centre. For tickets, please visit http://www.ticketmaster.ca  or call 604-882-8800.
