Great Month of December for Rivnation

With the Holiday break behind them, the Langley Rivermen traveled to Prince George for back to back contests against the Spruce Kings to finish off the year 2016.

Both games would need extra periods to declare a winner and on both occasions Prince George was able to edge out the Rivermen.  It wasn’t all bad for Langley as they were awarded 2 out of 4 points but find themselves one point behind the Spruce Kings in the Mainland Division Standings.

Thursday’s game had fewer goals as it was a 3-2 final in OT.  Friday’s game was a lot more spread out in the scoring department as the final was 7-6 in double overtime. Spruce Kings Ben Brar and Tyler Anderson played the hero’s for the hometown squad on each night.

A good amount of Rivermen found the score sheet in both contests as Zac Masson(2goals), Nic Ponak, Angus Crookshank, Cooper Leitch, Brendan Budy, McKay Flanagan(tying goal in 2nd game) and Andrew Dumaresque rounded off this weeks scoring.

All in all it was a great month of December for Langley as they were able to register at least 1 point in all but 1 game and the squad also had a 5 game win streak which definitely helped with the push in the standings.

The Rivermen will be looking to continue this on into the New Year when they welcome the Victoria Grizzlies to the Lodge on Friday Jan.6 and then a trip out to Chilliwack to take on the Chiefs.  Friday’s game is at 7:15 PM.

Happy New Year Rivnation.  See you in 2017!

As for now you’re up to date.  See you at the rink.
