Kalen Szeto Commits to Yale University

Congratulations go out to our newest recruit Kalen Szeto on his commitment to Yale University.

Szeto, 15 years old, made his decision coming off of a successful WHL Cup where he and his Team BC teammates beat a strong Alberta team to capture gold in overtime, where he had 2 goals in the 5 games played.

“It was a lot of fun.” Said Sezto “We had an amazing group, it was a real privilege to represent our province and compete against such good hockey players, definitely a memory that will last a long time.”

Kalen is currently playing at the Burnaby Winter Club Academy U18 Prep Team in the CSSHL and is committed to playing with the Langley Rivermen for the 2018/2019 season as a 16 year old. He will join his current teammate Ryan Helliwell on the Rivermen as well for next season who is a commit to the University of Notre Dame.

“I’m in no rush, I’m just working day by day on getting better. Focused on improving this season and stepping into the lineup next year and contributing. Next year stays the same, just improving day by day my goal is to be ready at 18 to attend Yale as a true Freshman. My brother goes to Harvard and took the same route as I am trying to. He played for the Rivermen and he loved it, it worked for his development and got him where he wanted to go and I just want to do the same.”

“The history of the program, everything, I’m just so excited for the future. I cannot wait to be Bulldog”

Kalen’s commitment makes both of the Rivermens 16 year old commits for next season committed to NCAA Division 1 Schools.
