Township of Langley (October, 8, 2015)- The Langley Rivermen are pleased to announce that forward Matthew Graham (1995 born) has committed to play for Robert Morris University (RMU) for the 2016-17 season. Graham is the ninth player on the Rivermen roster to commit to an NCAA school.
“I am absolutely thrilled to join Robert Morris University. It has been my goal for a very long time to play for a division one school, and can’t wait for an opportunity to play at that level,” said Graham.
Graham, a Bedford, Nova Scotia native, is in his second season with the Rivermen and is an alternate captain. He is off to a fantastic start this season, recording eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in eight games.
“We are extremely happy for Matt on his commitment. As a staff, we were a little surprised it took as long as it did for him to land somewhere, but that’s the way it goes sometimes,” said Rivermen Head Coach and General Manager Bobby Henderson. “We see the work he puts in on a daily basis, and it is nice to see him being rewarded for it. RMU is an up and coming program in the NCAA ranks and is a good fit all-around.”
Robert Morris University is located in Moon, Pennsylvania and plays out of the Atlantic Hockey Conference (AHC). Graham recently went to visit the campus, and liked everything about the school.
“I always want to be on a winning team and they have done well over the last couple of years. The coaching staff is great and have done a good job with that program, and I am excited to be a part of it next season,” Graham finished.
The Rivermen host a pair of games at the Langley Events Centre this weekend. On Friday October 7, the ‘Riv take on the Wenatchee Wild at 7:15pm. On Sunday October 9, the Chilliwack Chiefs are in town for a 3:00pm faceoff. Following the game, it will be another ‘Skate with the Rivermen’ promotion.
