Riv Take Both Games Against Eagles

Weekend Wrap up;

The Langley Rivermen extended their lead atop the Mainland Division over the Prince George Spruce Kings by 6 points by taking both games against the Surrey Eagles in their home and home series.

Friday 6-1 Win

The Eagles got off to a 1-0 lead on a power play marker early in the first, but in the second after a momentum building power play shift the Rivermen found the back of the net off a Trevor St. Jean feed to Connor Marshall to tie it up halfway through the second. Less than 2 minutes after that Nic Ponak in tight went short side to take the 2-1 lead. A fast four minutes went by and Tanner Versluis on a penalty shot went forehand backhand to make it 3-1. Connor Marshall off of a deflection on a perfect Spencer Berry point shot a minute later gave the Rivermen a 4-1 lead heading into the third. John Wojciechowski  and Devin Leduc would extend their lead to 6-1 in this one. Fleming with W stopping 25 of 26.

Quick turnaround for game 2 at The Lodge.

Saturday 3-1 Win

the Riv got off to the start they were looking for. And to boot, they got it on the power play. Angus Crookshank finished off some great puck movement on the power play  to take the 1-0 lead. Connor Marshall would find the back of the net again on some individual work by Trevor St. Jean down low to win a battle on the boards before angus Crookshank found him to make it 2-0. Desi Burgart would strike back on a broken play to go into the second period up 2-1. Tanner Versluis received a nasty hit up high forcing him to miss a few shifts but returned in the second frame taking a beauty of a pass from Collin Bernard and going 1 on 2 against the Eagles defence sniping one in the bottom left corner. 3rd period the Riv shut it down and Flemling was solid once against stoping 25 of 26 shots again for the win.

Riv head across the Port Man Bridge on Wednesday to take on the Express at 7pm.
