Rivermen Gameday: Express @ Rivermen

Stating the Rivermen have a busy week ahead of them is a major understatement. Beginning today, the boys will play four games in the next five days that includes a weekend ‘three in three’ road trip to the island. This afternoon will be the third meeting of the season between the Rivermen and Express. The Riv currently hold a 2-0 win advantage over their Mainland rivals and have scored six goals in both games, while only allowing five. Heading into this week, Langley sits third in the Mainland Division with a 12-8-0-0 record for 24 points. Coquitlam is behind them in fourth at 7-10-1-2 for 17 points.

The Riv will look to avoid three straight losses for the first time this season after dropping their last two games to Chilliwack and Salmon Arm last weekend. The Express on the other hand, have lost their last three games and have just one win in their last six. A main reason for their struggles has been due to the absence of team captain and leading scorer Jackson Cressey. He has missed their last three games after being injured against Prince George on October 24th.

A few weeks ago, a concern for the Rivermen was the power play. That concern is no more, as the team has recorded a power play goal in four straight games and are 6/18 in that span. Justin Fregona leads the team in power play goals with four, while Matty Saharchuk and Dominic Franco are behind him with three apiece.

Game time is set for 3:00pm at the Langley Events Centre. The Rivermen will be supporting a great cause at the game and we hope that fans will as well. From each single game ticket sold, the Rivermen organization will be donating $5 dollars per adult and $2 dollars per student and senior to Honour House. In addition to donating partial proceeds, members of Honour House and the Paramedics will be at the top of Gate 2 collecting donations as well as running the 50/50 for the game.
