Rivermen Recognize Volunteers

Township of Langley, BC, Monday, March 19, 2012: The Langley Rivermen’s inaugural season in the BCHL is now in the books and in the end, it was a success. That success would not have been possible without the volunteers who work extremely hard behind the scenes every day. The Rivermen organization selected two individuals for “Volunteer of the Year” who have been lending their time in the Langley Junior Hockey scene for quite a while and they are Bill Hodgson and Doreen Kozak.

“Every volunteer is special to our organization, but we felt we had to recognize Bill and Doreen who have been involved in Junior “A” Hockey in Langley for a while now and really deserve this,” said Taylor Henderson, the Director of Operations for the Rivermen.

Bill and Doreen’s efforts were recognized at the Rivermen’s year end banquet on March 12th and received gifts on behalf of the franchise for their outstanding contributions. Bill has been a long time goal judge and Doreen sells gameday programs and is also an usher.

“Bill and Doreen are just a few of the hard working individuals that make our franchise run without a hitch. We always have a great turnout of volunteers on game nights and they always do what is asked of them. Without our volunteers, there is no team and we cannot thank them enough for their dedication to the Rivermen”, continued Henderson.

The franchise would also like to thank Rick Taron who is the volunteer lead and is an invaluable asset to the franchise. Rick has been involved in Junior Hockey for a considerable amount of time and his knowledge and experience is something any team is lucky to have.

The Rivermen are always looking for volunteers and any inquiries can be directed to info@langleyrivermen.com.
