Weekend Preview: Riv on The Road in PG

Nov 3, 2017

The Rivermen are on the road to face the Spruce Kings in their home rink for the first time this season. The two clubs have faced off twice already this season, both at The Lodge in Langley which saw the home team take both meetings the first in overtime off of a Angus Crookshank goal on a beauty of a feed from Brendan Budy and Carter Stephenson. And then again last week in a back and forth nail biter 2-1 on goals by Budy and Crookshank.

The close results are no fluke, as both teams playing fast hard hockey are going for it all. The Rivermen look to lengthen their lead within the division, while the Spruce Kings have a great opportunity to really close it up.

“We know their going to come out hard. They’re coming off a tough last two games against us last Saturday and then again the next day losing to Surrey. Both teams are rested and motivated for whats at stake early on here in the season.”

Said, Alec Capstick. The second year 18yr old veteran defensemen will look to use his experience to help some of the new players to the league this weekend up in PG

“Its a tough rink to play in for guys than haven’t been here yet, things happen a lot quicker and are awareness has to be at an all time high at all times. We just need to take it shift by shift, play smart, play our game and keep it simple, thats been us so far and its giving us success.”

The Rivermen posted a 1-4 record here last season on the road in PG and will look to improve on that record this time around, and then against in December.

Game can be seen tonight at hockeytv.com .  Puck drop 7pm.
