The Langley Rivermen will begin the 2019/20 BCHL Regular Season at the Lodge on Saturday night when the Coquitlam Express come to town, and again on Sunday afternoon with a matchup against the Chilliwack Chiefs. The team has been hard at work over the pre-season where they finished with a record of 2-2-0-1.
The new season brings along many returning players who pushed the top-seeded Chilliwack Chiefs to the brink of elimination in the 2019 Playoffs. Forwards back for the season include Kalen Szeto, Matteo Pecchia, Tristan Fraser, Tanner Versluis, Adam Nobes, Ryley Wallack, and Devin Leduc. The Riv will return most of their defensive core that was one of the top units in the league last season including Colten Kovich, Stephen Sielsky, Ryan Helliwell, Jake Livingstone, and Brian Scoville. Tanner Komzak and Will Dow-Kenny were also added to bolster the blueline. There will be a familiar face in net as Braedon Fleming returns to man the crease along with Kristian Lyon.
Vancouver Canucks’ newly acquired star forward Micheal Ferland will be on hand Saturday night for the opening puck drop. The 27-year-old spent the previous five seasons with the Calgary Flames and Carolina Hurricanes before signing a four-year contract with Vancouver.
Following the game on Sunday, join the team on the ice for a post game skate with the players. They will also be available to sign autographs and chat with the fans. Bring out your friends and family for these unique experiences.
Game time is slated for 7:15 pm on Saturday and 2:30 pm on Sunday at George Preston Recreation Centre.
Tickets for home games can be purchased at the George Preston Recreation Centre “The Lodge” box office 45 minutes before puck drop and by calling 604-229-2352 or emailing email@example.com.
