Capstick on NHL Central Scouting Watch List

On Saturday, the ‘NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Watch List’ was released and Langley Rivermen defenseman, Alec Capstick, has made the list of players to watch this upcoming season.

Capstick, who was a 16-year old with the Rivermen last season, made major strides in his game on the backend for Langley last year. Head Coach/GM, Bobby Henderson, has high hopes that the 6-foot d-man will pick up right where he left off, “Alec spent some time in and out of the lineup last season,” Coach Henderson said, “but he was a pivotal piece of the puzzle in the playoffs against the Wenatchee Wild.”

Capstick is coming off a rookie campaign which saw him play 48 regular season games where he posted 1 goal and 5 assists for a total 6 points and recorded 3 points in 5 playoff games for the Rivermen.

The mention from the NHL Central Scouting watch list was humbling for Capstick, “It was nice to be recognized for the hard work that I have been putting in,” Capstick said, “I know that I have to continue putting the hard work in moving forward.”

Capstick is planning on taking his game to another level on the back end and hopes to chip in more offensively. He stated, “I would like to get more goals this season.  As a player you always want to make strides to getting to the ultimate goal which is fulfilling the dream of playing in the NHL.”

For Alec, this season is an exciting opportunity with the big move back to the George Preston Recreation Centre and for Capstick it will be a homecoming of sorts. When asked about moving to the Lodge he said, “at first I was surprised but then I got really excited to play in the very rink that I grew up playing minor hockey.”

You can catch Alec and the rest of the Langley Rivermen with season tickets starting at just $99 each by contacting tickets@langleyrivermen.com or calling 604-819-2078.

As for now, you’re up to date.  See you at the rink.
