GAMEDAY: CHIEFS @ RIVERMEN

The Langley Rivermen put their four game winning streak on the line this afternoon against the Chilliwack Chiefs. The ‘Men are coming off a 3-0 win on Friday against the Wenatchee Wild, while the Chiefs are 1-1 this weekend, after picking up a 6-1 win in Surrey on Friday, and a 5-1 loss last night at home to Penticton.

Today’s game will be the third meeting in the past 10 days between the Rivermen and Chiefs. In last weekend’s home and home series, it was the Rivermen winning both games by 6-4 and 3-2 (double OT) scores. Coming into this afternoon, the Rivermen sit in first place in the Mainland Division with a 7-2-0-0 record, while the Chiefs are in fourth at 4-4-1-2.

The Riv’s team defense has been very stellar the last three games only allowing four goals. Nicholas Trenciansky has provided excellent goaltending in the past handful of games and was rewarded with his first career BCHL shutout against Wenatchee on Friday night. The Surrey native has won his last four starts.

Chilliwack will be looking to find their game on the road. Through six games away from home this season, they have just one win, which came on Friday in Surrey against the Eagles. Forward Vimal Sukumaran will be a player the Chiefs will continue to lean on, as he currently sits sixth in BCHL scoring with 16 points (9 goals, 7 assists) in 11 games.
