The Langley Rivermen return home this Friday and Saturday to take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, this begins an important four game homestand for Langley,
Langley have dropped three games in a row coming into this weekend’s games, dropping a 6-1 decision to Prince George at home on Tuesday, and falling in Victoria 4-1 to the Grizzlies on Friday, and 7-2 in Cowichan against the Capitals on Saturday.
Alberni Valley meanwhile find themselves in the midst of a 5-game road trip, they dropped a 3-2 decision to Coquitlam to begin the trip, before winning a tight 2-1 overtime game in Surrey on Saturday. Alberni Valley will also play Chilliwack on Monday in a special family day game as well to wrap up a busy three game in four day stretch.
ALBERNI VALLEY PLAYER TO WATCH
#21 Kye Benoche – the 2005 born forward has been playing some of the best hockey of his BCHL career the past month, in his first full season he has 36 points in 40 games, but more importantly has points in 10 of his last 11 games, scoring 11 goals and collecting 8 assists in that span. The pride of Campbell River, BC will look to help be a leader down the stretch for the Bulldogs as they chase a top seeding in the Coastal West division.
LANGLEY RIVERMEN PLAYER TO WATCH
#28 Brett Calhoon – the Kamloops, BC product was acquired on Thursday from Brooks in a blockbuster, multi-player trade and made his debut on Friday for Langley in Victoria against the Grizzlies, scoring a big goal to make it a tie game at the time, his first of the season. A veteran with over 115 games in the WHL with Medicine Hat, Kelowna, and Red Deer will look to help insulate Langley’s offence as they too are chasing the third spot in the BCHL’s Coastal East division.
