The Langley Rivermen four game homestand keeps rolling this weekend as they welcome the Surrey Eagles on Friday, and Cowichan Capitals on Saturday.
Langley are coming off a weekend split with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, winning 4-2 on Friday, but dropping a tight 5-3 game on Saturday in the second matchup of the weekend.
Surrey played three games on Vancouver Island this weekend, losing 6-2 in Nanaimo on Friday, and winning a shocker 5-4 in Cowichan courtesy of a game winner with 5 seconds left. They play in Victoria on Monday afternoon in a Family Day Matinee.
Cowichan meanwhile won on Friday 6-3 over the Chilliwack Chiefs at home, and as mentioned above a 5-4 surprising loss to Surrey also at home.
SURREY PLAYER TO WATCH
#17 Kole Keen – the 2006 born forward has excelled with Surrey since the trade that brought him to the Eagles in late October from Cowichan. In 29 games with the Eagles, the White City, Saskatchewan product has 10 goals and 11 assists, and has been their top line centre with the team’s improved play over the last two weeks.
COWICHAN PLAYER TO WATCH
#22 Anthony Hall – the Capitals leading point getter has kept the foot on the gas offensively the whole season, with 50 points in 43 games coming into this weekend. The pride of Sherbrooke, Quebec is also on a 9 game point streak, collecting 5 goals and 8 assists. Langley will have to keep a keen eye on the 2005 born forward come Saturday at the George Preston Arena.
RIVERMEN PLAYER TO WATCH
#20 Jordan Geike – the former Nanaimo Clipper and Chilliwack Chief has been a welcome addition to the Rivermen lineup, collecting a goal and an assist in his first three games. The pride of Rochester, Minnesota has an excellent shot and doesn’t give up on any play, and will be a key contributor down the stretch for Langley.
