Langley Rivermen week preview March 6th and 8th

The Langley Rivermen conclude a brief two game home stand this weekend against the Cowichan Capitals on Friday, and visit the Surrey Eagles on Sunday for the final time this season.

Langley won two big games this past weekend against the Coquitlam Express, 9-5 on the road in Coquitlam on Friday after trailing 4-0 after 20, and 6-3 on Saturday at the George Preston Arena.

Cowichan won 3-2 at home against Chilliwack, and followed it up with a big 6-2 win on Saturday in Victoria against the Grizzlies.

Surrey lost 3-0 on Friday in Prince George against the Spruce Kings, and followed it up with a tight 9-6 loss the following night against Prince George.

COWICHAN PLAYER TO WATCH

#21 Tristan Gravenor – the 2006 born first year Capitals forward has been a big part of the numerous offensive weapons Cowichan possesses this season. The Montreal, Quebec born forward has 49 points in 47 games this season, and in his last 5 games has four goals and three assists, and Langley will need to keep the 19 year old at bay this coming Friday at the George Preston Arena.

SURREY PLAYER TO WATCH

#28 Gleb Semenko – the Russian forward has been a solid addition to the Eagles team from the Sherwood Park Crusaders at the trade deadline, and has fit right into this speedy Surrey team. The 2008 born winger has three goals and three assists in his first 7 games with the Eagles, and he brings some offensive flair that will make things difficult on Langley’s defence come Sunday at the South Surrey Arena.

RIVERMEN PLAYER TO WATCH

#7 Makaio Van Tassel – the pride of Brentwood, Tennessee has points in four of his last five games, and is part of a high octane second line alongside Connor Jalbert and Jordan Geike that combined for 16 points in the two games this past weekend against Coquitlam. The 2006 born forward has an excellent shot, paired with his blazing speed makes for a tough matchup for opposing defenceman and Van Tassel will be key down the stretch for Langley.
