The Langley Rivermen play a three game in three day stretch this weekend, beginning Friday and Saturday at home against Chilliwack and Surrey, before wrapping up the weekend Sunday in Chilliwack to conclude their season series with the Chiefs.
The Rivermen return home Friday, March 20 at 7:15 PM to face the Chilliwack Chiefs in support of Special Olympics Night. They are back in action Saturday, March 21 at 7:15 PM against the Surrey Eagles, where kids 12 and under can attend for just $5.
Langley are coming off their lone game of the weekend on Saturday in Chilliwack against the Chiefs, a game where they faced a deficit three times, battling back to tie the game each time, and pulled away in the final frame with a four goal third period winning 7-3.
Chilliwack won 3-2 on Friday in South Surrey against the Eagles, before dropping that 7-3 game to Langley which halted the Chiefs’ four game win streak.
Like Langley, Surrey also had a single game on the weekend, that tight 3-2 loss at home to Chilliwack.
CHILLIWACK PLAYER TO WATCH
#12 AJ Schaaf – the 2006 born forward plays a heavy but entertaining style of hockey for the Chiefs, and has scored in three straight games for the Chiefs. The 6’4” 215 pound sharp shooter was opportunistic with his goal against Langley on Saturday night, and will look to keep his scoring ways going come Friday at the George Preston Arena.
SURREY PLAYER TO WATCH
#17 Kole Keen – the 2006 born forward has the most points on Surrey this year, and has been a constant leader on a struggling Eagles team. The pride of White City, Saskatchewan has four goals and two assists over his last four games and was instrumental in the Eagles overtime win against Langley on March 8th scoring two goals including the game winner.
RIVERMEN PLAYER TO WATCH
#21 Parker Forlin – No one has been scoring more for Langley lately than Niagara Falls born forward Parker Forlin. Forlin has three multi goal outings in his last 5 games, and points in 9 of his last 10 games, and will look to keep finding the net in the three games his team has this weekend.
