The Langley Rivermen take on the Powell River Kings on Friday in their Halloween night game at the George Preston Arena, before making a one game trip up to Prince George to take on the Spruce Kings to wrap up the month of October and begin the month of November.
Langley are coming off a pair of losses to Coquitlam on Friday and Saturday in a home and home matchup, with Langley dropping the weekend opener 6-4 on the road on Friday, and despite a comeback push on Saturday at home dropped a tight 4-3 game.
Powell River are coming off a pair of losses at home to Nanaimo on Friday and Saturday at the Hap Parker Arena, losing 8-3 on Friday but turned it into a close affair on Saturday with a 4-3 game that went the Clippers way.
Prince George meanwhile were on the road to the lower mainland this past weekend, dropping their weekend opener 6-2 in Chilliwack against the Chiefs, but turned around and beat the winless Surrey Eagles 5-2 on Saturday to head home happy.
POWELL RIVER PLAYER TO WATCH
#21 Marek Beaudoin – the second year Kings player has picked up where he left off last season, as he is currently riding a 7-game point streak coming into Friday’s game in Langley. The Vercheres, Quebec product has strung it together after beginning the season pointless in his first four games, in the 7 consecutive efforts he has grabbed a point in four of those have been multi point efforts. Langley’s defence will need to keep Beaudoin under their watchful eye this Friday at the George Preston Arena.
PRINCE GEORGE PLAYER TO WATCH
#26 Kazumo Sasaki – the third year Spruce King has been brilliant for Prince George, especially after a career high in points last year. He played his 100th career BCHL game on Friday in Chilliwack and was held pointless, but has 6 multi point games this season and has points in 7 of his last 8 games coming into Sunday’s game in BC’s Northern Capital.
LANGLEY PLAYER TO WATCH
#73 Tanner Winegard – the first year Rivermen has been at his best the last few games for Langley, collecting timely points and making key defensive plays late in games. The 6’5 215 pound defenceman is currently top 20 in points for in the league having collected two goals and 8 assists for 10 points through 13 games. The Bright’s Grove, Ontario product will be relied upon especially Sunday in Prince George in a rink where space is small and physicality is at a premium.
