Loss and Win Against Division Foe

Loss and Win Against Division Foe

The 2nd and 3rd meeting in a row took place this past week between the Surrey Eagles and the Langley Rivermen and for the Riv it was 2 more valuable points in the Mainland Division Standings.

Thursday was much of the same for Langley as they played a road game at the South Surrey Arena against the Eagles and as the away team, the Rivermen struggles continued as they drop a 5-3 decision to Surrey evening the season series at a game a piece.  To date Langley has only one outright win on the road this season which came back on Sept.17 at the Prospera Centre in Chilliwack against the Chiefs.

Friday it was home sweet home again for the Rivermen as Captain Cooper Leitch lead his team to victory in the final game of the 3 game mini series with the Eagles with a 3 goal night handing Surrey a 6-3 loss.

Sean Gulka registered his first BCHL goal in the victory.  Ryan Barrow and Nic Ponak also found the score sheet in the goal scoring department for Langley.

Langley also outshot their opponent 42-18.

Another thing that has been lacking for the Rivermen this season is the inability to string together a few wins in a row but it hasn’t hurt the team as they are still very much in the thick of things in the Conference as they sit 4th in the standings with 14 points.

It will be a pretty tough contest on Thursday night at the Lodge when the Wenatchee Wild make their first visit of the season to the GPRC.  In the previous meeting this season, Wenatchee was able to pull off a 7-5 victory over the Rivermen.

Game time Thursday is 7:15PM and you can get your tickets ahead of time and beat the line by purchasing them online at tickets.langleyrivermen.com.

We will see you Thursday.

As for now, you’re up to date.  See you at the rink.
