Rivermen extend win streak to four games; Beat PG 4-1

Township of Langley, BC (Thursday, November 26, 2015) – The Langley Rivermen continued their dominance on home ice of late with a 4-1 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings on Thursday night. It was the second meeting of the season between the two Mainland Division opponents, with Langley leading the season series 1-0. Bo Didur got the start for the Rivermen, while Sam Tanguay played in net for the Spruce Kings.

The opening 20 minutes remained scoreless between the two teams. Langley had some good looks at the net with 16 shots, but Tanguay stopped every single one. Didur turned aside all five he faced.

Early in the second period, Justin Szeto broke the ice with his 10th goal of the season. Zachary Bleuler took a shot on net inside the PG zone and Szeto was there to quickly pounce on it and bury it top corner. Jason O’Neill had the secondary assist. 49 seconds later, Adam Sinclair made it a 2-0 score putting home his 5th of the season. Sinclair found himself one on one with the goaltender and placed a perfect shot over the glove of Tanguay. Cameron Ginnetti and Torrin White had the assists.

The visitors came out hard in the third period. After having a goal disallowed early on, Braden Epp made it a 2-1 game just before the eight minute mark. However, Justin Fregona took away any momentum the Spruce Kings had scoring his team leading 19th goal of the season. Fregona was able to let go of a quick toe-drag snap shot in the slot that ended up past the blocker of the PG goaltender. Adam Sinclair had the only assist. To finish things, Torrin white sealed the game with his third straight empty net goal to make it a 4-1 final.

The Rivermen are now on a four game winning streak and the offense is really turning it on with 18 goals for in the last four contests. Bo Didur picked up his 8th win of the season stopping 34 of 35 shots, while Tanguay took the loss stopping 26 of 29. Langley now leads the season series with PG 2-0.

Next up for the Riv is a home game on Friday, November 27th against the Merritt Centennials at 7:15pm.
