RIVERMEN HAND-OUT 2014-15 YEAR END AWARDS

Township of Langley, BC (Tuesday, March 17, 2015) – The Langley Rivermen held their annual year-end banquet on Monday where they handed out their year-end awards.

Kevan Kilistoff earned the Most Valuable Player award. The Captain capped off his junior career with his best season in terms of points. ‘Killy’ led the Rivermen with 66 points (25g, 41a).

“Having the ‘C’ on my chest I felt I had to step up, which I think I did,” said Kilistoff. “I enjoyed leading these guys. It was a fun year.”

Marcus Vela also had a season to remember, as he won Forward of the Year. The second-year player scored 46 points (20g, 26a) and represented Canada West at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge in Kindersley, Saskatchewan as well as Team West in the 2015 CJHL Prospects Game in Oakville, Ontario.

“I had a lot of honours and opportunities this year but it didn’t come easy,” said Vela. “It came with my teammates and coaches helping me each night. To be able to play for Canada West was one of the best experiences of my career.”

Jake Kearley was the recipient of the Top Defenseman award. The 20-year old led the back-end in scoring with 31 points (8g, 23a). Kearley was also featured on TSN’s Bardown after scoring a highlight reel goal against the Surrey Eagles this season. Watch -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed-hkXW0brU
