The Langley Rivermen Hockey Club will be hosting a U16 and U18 team with the opportunity to play in the JSHL (Junior Showcase Hockey League) playing from April until June 2019.
The JSHL is an independent spring showcase program organized by Junior A teams to give top players in their region the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of coaches and scouts from various levels of hockey. This League is designed to be a stepping stone for athletes hoping to play Junior A, NCAA, and/or Pro Hockey.
The league offers showcase style play where teams travel to various locations throughout BC and play 3 to 4 games over a weekend against other attending teams.
Throughout the spring season, officials will be ranking and scouting the players, inviting the top 40 kids to an all-star series.
The cost for the Langley Rivermen JSHL spring program is $2,000.
The age brackets for the teams are as follows:
- U16 born 2004-2005
- U18 born 2002-2003

U18 JSHL
1-Showcase – Victoria; April 12 – 14
2-Showcase – Langley; April 27 – 29
3-Showcase – Chilliwack; May 24 – 26
4-Showcase – Surrey; June 14 – 15
The Langley Rivermen U16 & U18 Spring League program includes the following:
- Coaching by the Langley Rivermen/Langley Trapper staff; which will help athletes gain a deeper understanding of the demands and expectations of a high-performance athlete;
- Full length games at each of the showcases;
- Showcase weekends will be run across BC in 4 different cities *U16 will also play in Washington;
- 10 hours of development ice;
- 5 hours of dry land training;
- Rivermen Spring uniform including home and away jersey and socks;
- League Website with full stats, standings, and player profiles;
COACHES
Stefano Ruscitti (Head Coach U16) Langley Trapper GM /Associate Head Coach
Stefano is currently in his first year of coaching with the Langley Trappers. Prior to the Trappers, Stefano has worked as the Assistant Coach for the Langley Rivermen (2016/17; 2017/18) and as the Assistant Coach with the North West Giants Major Midget program (2015/16).
Bradley Bakken (Head Coach U18) Langley Rivermen Assistant GM/Associate Head Coach
Bradley is currently in his first season as Associate Head Coach for the Langley Rivermen. In the past season Bradley served as the Associate Head Coach and GM for the Langley Trappers. The Trappers had a successful inaugural season which launched him upwards to coach in the BCHL. In his hockey playing career, Bradley played one season in the WHL followed by three seasons in the BCHL. He comes with a lot of knowledge on how to compete at a higher level and will give the players direction on how to improve their game both on and off the ice.
