The Langley Rivermen made a trio of roster moves this week, acquiring one player through a trade and signing two more from the NAHL.

The first move was made on Wednesday as Rivermen head coach and general manager Chris Shaw announced the team had acquired 2006 born defenceman Aidan Souligny from the Blackfalds Bulldogs in exchange for 2005 born forward Declan Bowmaster. 

Souligny is in his second BCHL season, and split last season between the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Prince George Spruce Kings. He played 25 times for Salmon Arm collecting two assists, and 17 times for Prince George gathering three assists. 

This season, he appeared in 10 games with Prince George amassing one goal and three assists. He was traded to Blackfalds in early November, and also appeared in 10 games with the Alberta base squad, collecting a goal and an assist. 

Souligny made his debut on Saturday for Langley against his former team, garnering an assist and playing key minutes in an 8-5 Rivermen win over the Spruce Kings. 

The Navan, Ontario product is committed to Boston University in the NCAA, and will don the #21. 

On Friday, Langley made a pair of signings from the NAHL. 

The first was picking up Zachary Benayon from the Odessa Jackalopes, who was leading his team in points before coming to Langley. 

The 2005 born Vaughan, Ontario forward collected 10 goals and 12 assists in 20 games played, in this his second season with the Jackalopes. 

He also spent time with the Stoufville Spirit and Georgetown Raiders of the OJHL. Benayon had an excellent start to his Riv career on Saturday against Prince George, collecting a goal and two assists in his BCHL debut. He will wear the #17 for Langley as the Rivermen roll into Chilliwack this Friday for their second meeting of the season against the  Chiefs. 

The second signing was a defenceman, as joining Langley will be 2005 born Liam Doyle who hails from Essex, Ontario. 

He started this season with the Shreveport Mudbugs in the NAHL. This season he played in 20 games acquiring three goals and 10 assists 

He previously played with the Melfort Mustangs in the MJHL, and Chatham Maroons in the GOJHL in 2022-23. 

He will join the team this week and is expected to make his Rivermen debut Friday in Chilliwack, he will wear the #7. 

Catch the newest Rivermen players in action this Saturday at the George Preston Arena, as Langley take on the Powell River Kings for their final game at home before the Christmas break. This is the fourth and final meeting of the season against the Kings, and will surely be another high scoring game. All Teddy bears can be tossed onto the ice after the first Rivermen goal, and all bears thrown onto the ice will be collected snd donated to children in need around the holiday season.
