Volunteers Needed for WJAC

Would you like to help run a week-long international hockey tournament?

Hockey Canada and the Langley Events Centre are offering you the perfect chance to do just that. The World Junior A Challenge runs Nov. 7 to 13 with athletes beginning to arrive in late October.

Individuals are needed as team hosts, ticket sellers, concession workers, media runners, game presentation assistants, scorekeepers, statisticians and more.

This will be the sixth staging of the six-team event and teams are coming from Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic and the United States as well as two Canadian squads.

"If you're into hockey or even if you just have experience organizing large events, your skills will be of great value to this tournament," said event communications chair Brent Mutis. "It's a super way to build up your resume while being part of a high-profile event that will get national media coverage and feature some highly talented, draft-eligible hockey players."

Volunteers will receive a tournament ticket package, meals, apparel and other goodies for lending a hand at the World Junior A Challenge. If you'd like to put your name forward or just want more details, send an e-mail to:
