2019/20 Billet Families Needed

The Langley Rivermen place great value on the people who help run their team.  No Junior hockey team can survive without the help of some great people who either help facilitate game nights or are kind enough to take in a player as their own for the duration of the season.  Being a part of the Rivermen billet or volunteer group means that you are a part of the team and will be treated as such.

If you are looking to register to become a Billet, please fill out the Billet registration package HERE

Not sure if you’re committed to becoming a billet family? Check out what some of our families and past players have to say about their experiences:

Mike & Erin Addy – Billets since 2016-17 Season
Being a billet family has brought more happiness to our home than we could have ever expected. So far we have had the joy of having four young men join our family, and they truly are family for life. It’s a truly unique experience that has broadened our horizons, connected us to our community, and allowed us to help our boys reach their personal and athletic goals.

Gavin Payne – Player 2016-17 Season
Being a billet in Langley turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. Not only did I come away with life long friends, I came away with a second family who took me in and made me their own. Many of the amazing experiences I had in Langley wouldn’t have been possible without my billets and countless other billets. It is and always will be a second home for me.

McKay Flanagan – Player 2016-17 Season
My experience living in Langley was nothing short of exceptional. The warmth and comfort I received from my billet families is what made my time living there so special. The transition of moving nearly 3,000 miles away from home was made possible only in part to the extreme care given to me by such amazing families. If it hadn’t been for my billet families, my time in Langley would not have been as amazing as it was. I have nothing but the fondest of memories when I look back on my time in Langley and the families that I lived with.

Cooper Leitch – Player 2016-17 Season
My billeting experience in Langley was amazing. The family took me in and treated me as if I were family from the first day I rolled into town. Being away from home isn’t easy but having a family that’s supportive makes a major impact in the players lives. I still keep in frequent contact with my billet’s and even though I graduated from the Rivermen 3 years ago some of my best Junior hockey memories were made at my billet house playing mini sticks and rock band with my billet brother. I was fortunate to have such an amazing experience and can only hope that everyone else who plays Junior hockey can experience something as great as I did!

Allison Gavin – Billets since 2016
We opted in to the program on a total whim – not knowing what we were getting into or really what to expect. What seemed like a random Sunday afternoon ‘good idea at the time’ will forever be one of the best decisions we have ever made. I have every confidence in saying that what we receive in return far exceeds the expectations we ever had going in. In what seemed like a simple thing – provide a player with room and board, one soon finds that it becomes more than providing a simple space for them to be. We care for the hockey players we have billeted as our own. Their families have become extensions of ours and the bond that forms between everyone is something very special and unique. As a billet mom, I take great joy and pride in providing a safe, comfortable space for a player to call home; to provide comfort to their parents that their son will be respected, nurtured and supported in all aspects while they navigate the demands of Junior hockey. We celebrate the highs; we band together for the lows and sincerely enjoy knowing that by simply opening up our home, we are giving back in a way that will influence the lives of these young men for many more years to come. We find the experience extremely fulfilling not only for us, but also for our son who gains a positive role model and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Eric Butte – Player 2016-18 Season
My billet experience was unbelievable. The Gavin family welcomed me into their home from the second I arrived, and treated me like one of their own. The relationships I forged with each family member will last a lifetime.

Bobbi & Atanu Dalal – Billets since 2017
Look at my boys💙💙

My nephew played in the BCHL and we saw how special billeting was, so we decided to billet. If your family has sensitivity, humour, and a love of hockey you’ll love billeting. The life long friendships and being a part of the Riv Nation family has been life changing. We can’t wait for our 3rd season of billeting to start.

Colleen DiTomaso -Billets since 2018
This past season we had the pleasure of being billet parents to a wonderful young man from Texas. This was our first experience being a billet family and it was extremely rewarding, it was amazing to be part of a young man’s ability to fulfill his dreams. Can not wait for the upcoming season.

We would also like to give a special thanks to our current group of Billets and Volunteers, for all of their hard work and dedication to helping support our hockey team.
