Game Day Preview

Langley, BC – The Langley Rivermen continue to improve on their strong start to the season and last night (October 12) they beat Coquitlam on the road for their 5th straight win. With the win the Rivermen move to 8-3-0-1 on the season and currently lead the BCHL Mainland Division.

During this five game stretch the Rivermen’s offence has really caught fire and their defense has been even better. The Rivermen have outscored their opponents 19-7 and everyone is contributing to the team’s success. The Rivermen continue to be led offensively by Captain Mitch McLain who has 15 points (4g, 11a) and the recent surge of Austin Azurdia, James Robinson and Will Cook on the second line have started to consistently produce.

The Rivermen’s offence is looking better and better as the team has been building chemistry throughout all four lines during this winning streak. The recent success also has to be heavily credited to the entire defensive core of the Rivermen as they have been limiting the opposing team’s quality chances and even when they’ve broken through both Brock Crossthwaite and Steve Myland have been there to save the day in net.

Tonight the Rivermen return home to face the Surrey Eagles yet again as they will be looking to win their 6th straight. In the Rivermen’s previous game against Surrey they held them to 1 goal and chased their starting goaltender with a dominant 5-1 victory.  The Rivermen have won 2 straight against Surrey and lead the season series 2-1.

Tonight’s game goes at 7:15 at the Langley Events Centre. For tickets visit www.ticketmaster.ca
