Game Day Preview

Langley, BC – The Rivermen will be looking for a bounce back game when they take on the Merritt Centennials tonight at the Langley Events Centre. The two teams continue their home and home tonight after the Centennials beat the Rivermen 2-1 in a close contested battle last night in Merritt. The Rivermen still lead the BCHL Mainland Division but drop to 13-6-1-1 on the season and Merritt improved to 13-9-1-0.

In the two meetings between these teams this year it’s been very close with their first match up ending in a 1-0 win for the Rivermen at the BCHL Showcase back in September. Merritt evened the series 1-1 with their victory at home last night at Nicola Valley Arena and ended the Rivermen’s 4 game win streak.

The Rivermen’s winning streak of 4 games may have been halted by the Centennials last night but the Rivermen have also won three straight games at home. The LEC has been a tough place for teams to play of late and the Rivermen are 6-2-1-1 at home this season with their most recent win coming in a double overtime win over Prince George last week. Their three game winning streak also included a blowout victory over Coquitlam where they outscored their division rival 12-2.

The Rivermen will be looking to continue their strong play at home before they head out on the road for a game in Surrey and Coquitlam next week. Tonight the Rivermen will try to keep their home winning streak alive when they host Merritt at the LEC looking for their 4th straight win at home. Puck drops at 7:15pm.
