Riv Go For Five at Home

Langley, BC – The Langley Rivermen look to close out a three-game home weekend with a third win in a row as they host the Nanaimo Clippers this afternoon.

The 22-11-1-2 Rivermen are coming off a pair of 5-2 wins over Surrey and Powell River and now face their second straight Island division opponent with the 17-17-0-1 Clippers paying their only visit of the regular season to the Langley Events Centre.

After a regulation loss in Surrey last night, the Clippers are looking to finish their current road trip above .500 but the LEC has not been an easy building for visitors of late as the Rivermen are going for a fifth straight win on home ice.  Both teams have had no problem scoring with Langley managing 18 goals in their last five games while Nanaimo has scored 19 in their last five.

Special teams has been a big part of the Rivermen's recent success with four power play goals in the last two games as Langley is climbing up the rankings and now has the BCHL's best man advantage on home ice at an impressive 25%.  The Rivermen also still boast the league's best penalty kill at 87.1% overall and 90.2% at home.

Rivermen Captain Mitch McLain is already making a case for Player of the Week with six points in the last two games.  Matt Ustaski has also had a strong weekend with four points while Brock Crossthwaite has now won seven of his last eight starts in goal.

Puck drop at the LEC is 2:00pm with a chance to skate with the Rivermen after the game.
