Riv Outwork Vees for 4th Straight

Penticton, BC – The Langley Rivermen scored three goals in the final period to beat the Penticton Vees 5-4 for their fourth straight win taking a three point lead atop the Mainland division standings.

Gage Torrel was outstanding earning first star honours with three points, scoring the game winner off a beautiful feed from James Robinson with less than seven minutes to go in the third.

The Rivermen got out to an excellent start scoring two goals just 30 seconds apart midway through the first period with Torrel's first on the night and Reichert's ninth of the season.  Langley outshot the Vees 15-3 through 20 minutes and dominated all aspects of the game, chasing Penticton starting goalie Hunter Miska from the net as Olivier Mantha entered in relief halfway through the period.

The Vees countered with a pair of second period goals within a four minute span to tie the game at two after 40 minutes.  The third period was a wild one started off by Robinson finding the back of the net for his ninth of the season just 33 seconds in to restore the Langley lead.  The Vees countered with the game's lone power play goal off a Brett Beauvais shot through traffic to tie the game at three.  Three minutes later Penticton took their first lead of the game with Brad McClure's second on the night but it was shortlived as Matt Ustaski blasted the puck from the slot past Mantha to tie the game again.

After taking a timeout after Ustaski's goal, a couple shifts later Torrel got the game winner while the Rivermen held on for their 18th win of the season.

Now 18-9-1-2, the Rivermen can make it a perfect 3-for-3 road trip with a date in West Kelowna to take on the Warriors Saturday night.
