Rivermen, Eagles Face Off in Rivalry Weekend Home-and-Home

After a trip up north to Prince George, the Rivermen return to the Lower Mainland for a home-and-home weekend clash with the Surrey Eagles. Langley picked up a win in 2 games against the Spruce Kings, highlighted by a tight contest on Saturday night.

The boys in blue suffered a bit of a setback in the first game in Prince George with an 8-1 loss. Dustin Manz led the Spruce Kings attack with 3 goals and 2 assists. Jake Livingstone had the lone goal for the Rivermen while Alec Capstick added an assist.

With short memory, Langley bounced back the following night with a 2-1 victory over the same Spruce Kings team. Livingstone once again got the Rivermen on the board with a point shot in the first, and Trevor Ayre scored the game-winner on a wrap-around in the second period. NHL Draft prospect Ethan Leyh added 2 assists to bring his team-leading points total to 20. Brilliant in net was Braedon Fleming, who made 37 saves on 38 shots for the win.

This weekend, the Riv have a home-and-home series with the Surrey Eagles for the second time this season. The two teams will play Friday night at South Surrey Arena, then come back to the Lodge the next night for a rematch. Surrey (6-19-0-1) is currently on a six-game losing streak and sit last in the Mainland Division with 13 points, 8 back of Langley (10-11-1-0). The Rivermen lead the season series 2-1. On Tuesday, November 20th, Langley hosts the Coquitlam Express for a rare Tuesday home game. Coquitlam (15-7-1-0) is currently third in the division. The Riv also lead this season series 2-1.

Puck drop is set for 7:15pm on Friday, November 17th, as well as Tuesday, November 20th.

A reminder that our Teddy Bear Toss game will take place on Sunday, December 9th, so gather up some stuffed animals to donate. There will also be a post-game skate with the players.

Tickets for home games can be purchased at the George Preston Recreation Centre “The Lodge” box office 45 minutes before puck drop and by calling 604-229-2352 or emailing tickets@langleyrivermen.com.
