After six months without hockey, the Langley Rivermen are ready for their second season in the BCHL. In their inaugural year, there was a learning curve for everyone involved in the organization from the front office down to the players. With a year under the team's belt, this season's edition of the Rivermen are ready to make a run at the playoffs! Training camp was a tremendous success as all 60 players that participated put on quite the show for everybody that attended. The coaching staff has worked tirelessly over the summer to bring in the best talent from around North America and the players they brought in look to be poised for big season’s!
There could be as many as ten players returning from last season's team on the roster for this upcoming year. Some of the big names include leading goal scorer Mario Puskarich, defensive phenom Bo Pellah, starting goaltender James Barr, and newly named captain Thomas Nitsche. Also on the 2012-2013 edition of the club is hometown boy Jakob Reichert who the team picked up in an off season trade with the Merritt Centennials. Jakob will be entering his third BCHL season and is just nineteen years old.
Like last season, look for the Rivermen to be highly involved in community events around Langley. The team will be at such events as the Langley Cruise in on September 8th, BBQ on the Bypass on September 16th, and the Cranberry Festival on October 6th. In addition to some of the aforementioned special events, the team will be out in schools, at Langley Minor Hockey practices and much more.
All 27 home games will be played at the Langley Events Centre. There are special theme nights planned such as:
