Langford, BC, May 16, 2024 – Langley Rivermen Sports & Entertainment are excited to announce the acquisition of the Westshore Wolves (VIJHL). New ownership will take effect immediately.
The Westshore Wolves have a storied history in the VIJHL and the Rivermen organization are excited to continue to provide fast-paced family entertainment to the community of Langford.
“As the VIJHL has become independent, we are excited to bring the Wolves on as a pathway for elite players to play hockey at a high level. This partnership will give younger players an opportunity to play games and practice with a BCHL team while continuing their development in the VIJHL,” says Co-Owner Jamie Schreder. “Shawn Vincent, the outgoing owner, has been amazing to work with and we thank him for all that he has done to support, grow, and provide opportunity for the Westshore Wolves.”
Going forward, the two clubs will work very closely together to achieve success within both the BCHL and the VIJHL.
Co-Owner Dana Matheson has this to say: “This strategic alliance will allow the Langley Rivermen to develop and affiliate players from Westshore. We will build synergies with the Wolves in order to support both clubs. We’re very excited about the direction of the VIJHL, and how this league will work with the BCHL moving forward. The city of Langford is an amazing community and we’re looking forward to getting involved.”
