Weekend Preview

Langley, BC – The Rivermen will be looking to begin a new winning streak this weekend after their recent 6 game streak came to an end against Chilliwack on Wednesday night (October 16). They start the weekend with a game against the Penticton Vees tonight (October 19) at 7:15pm followed by a 2pm game Sunday October 20th against Prince George. The Rivermen still sit first in the BCHL Mainland Division with a record of 9-4-0-1 and have gone 5-1 in the month of October.

It will be a battle of two of the top teams when the Rivermen and the Vees hit the ice as the Vees sit tied for first with Powell River in the BCHL with 21 points. The Rivermen are just two points behind the two first place teams with 19 and they have been one of the hottest teams in the BCHL of late. They’ve only lost one game this month but will be looking to rebound after a sloppy game against Chilliwack which should provide some extra motivation for their weekend matchups.

After a game with one of the strongest teams in the league on Saturday night the Rivermen will host their division rival the Prince George Spruce Kings in their first meeting of the season. The Spruce Kings are only 4 points behind the Rivermen in a crowded Mainland Division, which makes every division matchup that much more important.

The weekend action gets started tonight against Penticton at the Langley Events Centre, game time is 7:15pm, then the Rivermen and Spruce Kings will battle it out at 2pm followed by a skate with the Rivermen after the game.

It’s also the Five Hole for Food Challenge so bring a food donation, the number to beat is 2352 pounds of food. This weekend is also 2 for 1 weekend so if you bring a food donation you get a ticket to tonight’s game and Sunday’s game.
