2024/25 Big Commits: The Riv Welcome DeWitt and Shepard

 

The Langley Rivermen are excited to announce commitments for a pair of 2007 born forwards for the 2024-25 BCHL season.

The first player to commit to the team is 2007 Sicamous born forward Owen DeWitt, who has managed a point per game over the last two seasons with various teams. DeWitt is currently with the Sicamous Eagles of the KIJHL and has scored 19 goals and registered 28 assists for 47 points in 35 games to date.

Last year, the 6’3 DeWitt managed 19 goals and added 36 assists for 55 points in 36 games played with the Thompson Blazers U17 team in the BCEHL, getting into two games as an AP with the U18 team, and one game with the Eagles collecting a goal and an assist.

Owen shared his thoughts about joining the Rivermen. “I’m really excited about joining the Langley Rivermen, and I can’t wait to play for this organization!”.

Will Shepard is the second player to commit to the Rivermen for next season. The 2007 born West Vancouver forward currently plays for the Burnaby Winter Club U18 team in the CSSHL.

The forward currently has 8 goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 20 games played on a strong BWC team.

The previous season, Shepard played with the U17 BWC team, and also averaged a point per game, amassing 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in just 26 games played. Before joining BWC, he played at the Delta Hockey Academy. He also spent time with the Rivermen in preseason, impressing the staff as a quick forward with a great shot.

Will commented on his excitement levels for joining the team. “I am humbled to be joining such an incredible organization, and I cannot wait for the future!”.

The Langley Rivermen are back on home ice this Friday for First Responders night, as they take on the Surrey Eagles. Tickets can be purchased at www.langleyrivermen.com, puck drop is slated for 7:15 as the team opens-up a five game homestand!
