Azurdia Commits to Alaska

Township of Langley, BC – The Langley Rivermen Junior “A” hockey club announced that Austin Azurdia has committed to play post-secondary hockey with the University of Alaska Anchorage. Azurdia will join the Sea Wolves for the 2014 season after he finishes this year’s BCHL season with the Rivermen.

The Wenatchee, Washington native took little time to make his decision about going to Alaska as he just went up for a campus visit earlier this week. Azurdia has gotten off to a hot start with the Rivermen this season with 11 points (7g, 4a) in 16 games and was on the radar of a number of different Universities. With his hot start he continues to build on his strong 2012-2013 campaign where he scored 35 points (17g, 18a) in 53 regular season games with the Rivermen.

Azurdia can now focus his attention solely on the Rivermen who continue to lead the BCHL Mainland Division and have showed why they were considered one of the top teams heading into the 2014 season. Azurdia and the Rivermen are back in action on Thursday October 24th at 7:15pm as they take on their division rival the Coquitlam Express at the Langley Events Centre.
