Game Day Preview

Langley, BC – The Rivermen are looking to get back in the win column as they host the Coquitlam Express in BCHL action tonight (October 24). It’s been a struggle of late for the Rivermen but they still have to be happy with their strong start to the season as they sit at a record of 9-5-1-1. They continue to lead the BCHL Mainland Division but Coquitlam is right on their tail trailing by only 2 points.

The last time these two teams met the Rivermen went into Coquitlam and came out with a 3-1 win. The Rivermen got a solid performance in net from Steve Myland who stopped 31 of 32 shots and earned first star honours. It was a penalty filled game as the division rivalry has just started to heat up in what was just their third meeting of the season.

The Rivermen lead the season series 2-1 as they host the Express at the Langley Events Centre for the first time since Coquitlam spoiled their home opener back on September 20th. Both teams have put together a strong month of hockey as they’ve both won 5 of their 8 games so far, in the month of October.

It’s been tough for the Rivermen to find the back of the net the last few games as they look to break out offensively and end the 3 game slide. The Rivermen hit the ice at 7:15pm tonight as they face-off against the Express in their 4th meeting of the season.
The Rivermen will also be in action of Saturday night (October 26) at 7:15pm when they host the West Kelowna Warriors on Trick or Suite Night at the LEC.
