Game Day Preview

Langley, BC – The Rivermen will be looking to continue their hot streak tonight as they host the Chilliwack Chiefs who are on the other end of a long losing streak. The Rivermen have won 6 straight games whereas the Chiefs have lost 6 straight, so tonight one thing’s for sure, a streak will come to an end.

It’s the first meeting between these two teams and the start to the season has been very different for both. The Rivermen are off to a great start and currently sit 1st in the BCHL Mainland Division with a record of 9-3-0-1 and their division rival the Chiefs haven’t won a game since September 14th as they sit last in the division with a record of 1-7-1-1.

The Rivermen will have to deal with a desperate Chiefs team tonight as they’re trying to climb their way out of the basement in the BCHL. The Chiefs will have their hands full as the Rivermen’s offense has been heating up and their defense continues to get better and better.

During their 6 game winning streak they have outscored their opponents 22-8 and tonight they take on a Chiefs team that’s struggled to score with only 19 goals on the season. Even when the Rivermen have been shorthanded this year they’ve been solid, and they currently have the top penalty killing percentage at home with 91.30%. The Rivermen’s recent streak has also grabbed some attention across the country as they’ve moved into 13th in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Weekly Top 20 Rankings.

It’s a busy week of hockey for the Rivermen as they also take on Penticton on Saturday October 19th at 7:15pm followed by a 2pm game on Sunday October 20th against Prince George. Tonight’s game goes at 7:15pm at the Langley Events Centre as the Rivermen look to stay perfect in the month of October and keep their winning streak alive.
