Game Day Preview

Langley, BC – The Rivermen will try to move back into first place when they host the Prince George Spruce Kings tonight (November 21) at the Langley Events Centre. The Spruce Kings currently lead the BCHL Mainland Division by one point over the Rivermen but the Rivermen hold a game in hand. The Rivermen sit 14-8-2-1 on the season but have had their struggles in the month of November going 2-3-0-1 so far.

The last meeting between these two teams came at the beginning of the month where the Rivermen came away with the 3-2 double overtime win. James Robinson scored the overtime winner to lift the Rivermen to victory but this time around someone else will have to play the hero as Robinson won’t be in the lineup due to injury. The injury bug has hit the Rivermen pretty hard this month with a number of key players being in and out of the lineup including forward Evan Anderson who's been out all season with an injury.

This will be another big test for the Rivermen as they try and get back to their winning ways and regain their spot atop the division. A key for the Rivermen in tonight’s game has to be their ability to play solid defensively as they’ve had some defensive breakdowns in their last few games. They did however seem to find their offensive touch in their last game as they exploded for 5 goals against the Grizzlies.

The Rivermen will try and take the lead in the division and the season series (1-1) when they hit the ice against the Spruce Kings. The puck drops at 7:15pm tonight at the LEC as two of the league’s best will battle it out for first place in the BCHL Mainland Division.
