Game Day Preview

Langley, BC – The Rivermen dropped their third game in a row falling 4-3 to the Prince George Spruce Kings last night in BCHL action (November 21). They now fall 3 points back of the Spruce Kings for first in the BCHL Mainland Division but they still hold a game in hand. The Rivermen are now 14-9-1-2 on the season and tonight they host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Hockey Fights Cancer Night, at the Langley Events Centre.

The Rivermen will have a chance to get back to within a point of first in their division but it won’t be an easy task as Salmon Arm has also put together a decent start to the season sitting at 13-9-1-3. Although both teams are looking to break a slump tonight as the Rivermen have lost 3 straight and the Silverbacks have lost 2 in a row.

In tonight’s game the Rivermen need to clean up their play in the defensive end as they’ve had a hard time keeping the puck out of their net in the last few games. They’ve given up 17 goals in their last 3 games and need to find a way to get back to playing solid defense in their own end. On the offensive end the Rivermen will look to Marcus Vela to stay hot as he’s got 6 goals in his last 6 games.

Puck drops at 7:15pm tonight between the Rivermen and the Silverbacks, so show off your moustache and wear your pink to the LEC, to show your support for Hockey Fights Cancer Night. Partial ticket proceeds from tonight’s game will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
