Giving Back to the Community: Free Tickets and a New Family Zone from The Matheson Family Foundation

Transforming Game Night: The Matheson Family Foundation’s Commitment to an Inclusive Hockey Experience

Langley, BC – September 17, 2023 – The Langley Rivermen Hockey Club and The Matheson Family Foundation proudly announce a joint initiative designed to enrich the lives of young hockey enthusiasts across the community. Spearheaded by the Foundation’s dedication to community empowerment, this collaboration promises to provide unparalleled access to the electrifying world of hockey.

Understanding the immense potential of sports to inspire, motivate, and bring people together, The Matheson Family Foundation is graciously offering free tickets to local schools and not for profit groups. This ensures that every child, regardless of background, gets a chance to be part of the thriving Rivermen family.

Jamie Schreder, co-owner of the Rivermen, remarked, “The Matheson Family Foundation’s generosity and vision are truly commendable. Their commitment to making hockey accessible to all resonates deeply with our club’s ethos.”

Dana Matheson, the owner behind The Matheson Family Foundation, shared, “It’s all about giving back. We want every child to experience the camaraderie, excitement, and sheer joy of a hockey game. It’s a small step towards creating lasting memories for our community’s young hearts.”

Additionally, the Foundation is unveiling the “Family Zone” at the George Preston Recreation Arena—an alcohol-free area strategically located close to the Rivermen’s players’ tunnel. This unique vantage point not only ensures a safe and wholesome environment but also gives visiting schools and children a thrilling closeness to the players, amplifying their match-day experience.
