Langley Rivermen Secure Ethan Riesterer from Surrey Eagles in Exchange for Future Considerations

Ethan Riesterer Joins Rivermen: A Key Offensive Addition

Langley, BC – September 19, 2023 – The Langley Rivermen have made a preseason move in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), securing forward Ethan Riesterer from the Surrey Eagles. In return, the Eagles will receive future considerations.

Ethan Riesterer, a Richmond native, has a proven track record in the BCHL. With an impressive 37 points in the 2022-23 season with the Surrey Eagles and additional contributions during the playoffs, Riesterer has shown steady progress over his tenure in the league.

Head Coach Burt Henderson expressed his enthusiasm, “Ethan is a veteran player that has been through the grind of a long season and playoffs for 3 years in the BCHL.  He brings us a combination of skill, poise, leadership, and competitiveness that will help our group moving forward.  We are excited to welcome Ethan and his family to the Rivermen.”

In the recent season with the Surrey Eagles, Riesterer played 53 games, amassing 13 goals and 24 assists. This followed a productive stint with the Powell River Kings, where he had progressively better performances each season.

Associate Coach Tyler Kuntz added, “I am very familiar with Ethan as I recruited him to Powell River and had him as an affiliate in the 2019-2020 season.  He’s a fantastic young man that is driven, hard working, and competitive.  We’re excited to add his skill, character, and energy.”

Director of Hockey Operations Curt Fraser commented on the decision to acquire Riesterer, “Ethan embodies the kind of player we want in our organization. Dynamic, hard to play against, and consistent. We look forward to seeing him don the Rivermen jersey.”

With this acquisition, the Rivermen continue their pursuit of creating a robust and competitive team, aiming to clinch the BCHL title in the upcoming season.
