The Langley Rivermen play one game this weekend, as Friday they make their first trip of the season to the South Surrey Arena to take on the Eagles. Next Tuesday, October 27th is their annual school day game at the George Preston Arena, with an earlier puck drop scheduled to have students come out and cheer on the team.
Langley are coming off a pair of losses on the weekend, a 6-5 overtime loss in Coquitlam Friday, and a 5-1 loss at home to Prince George on Saturday.
Surrey meanwhile dropped a pair of tight contests to Prince George at home on Friday 3-2, before making the trek to Coquitlam on Saturday and making it close again with a 4-3 loss.
SURREY PLAYER TO WATCH
#25 Sammy Smith – the 2007 born forward joined the team just as the season began, but has fit right in with the Eagles currently leading the team in points and adding some much needed offense to a Surrey team that is going through a rebuild. Smith has 5 goals and three assists in 10 games this year, and three goals and one assist in his prior three contests. The pride of Geneva, Illinois will have to be kept under close watch by Langley’s defence this Friday as Smith is someone who can take their chances with limited space on the puck.
RIVERMEN PLAYER TO WATCH
#6 Tyler Greene – Greene joined Langley last week after being signed from the Trail Smoke Eaters, and has fit right into this Rivermen team. The Air Force commit scored in his debut on Friday in Coquitlam, and even generated chances on Saturday versus Prince George but was held off the scoresheet. The pride of New Smyrna Beach, Florida adds size and skill to an already balanced Rivermen offense, and the 2007 born forward will be relied upon as Langley look to get back in the win column beginning this week.
You can watch both games on FloHockey with a paid subscription, with puck drop on October 23rd slated for 7pm, and 11am on Tuesday, October 27th at the Lodge.
