Langley Rivermen weekend preview March 27th and 28th

The Langley Rivermen return home for their final two games of the regular season this coming weekend, Friday hosting the Prince George Spruce Kings in a preview of their first round matchup, and Saturday hosting the Powell River Kings.

Langley are coming off their busiest weekend of the season this past weekend, dropping a 4-2 decision at home on Friday to the Chilliwack Chiefs, winning 9-6 over Surrey at home on Saturday, and securing a massive 3-2 come from behind road win on Sunday in Chilliwack.

Prince George split their weekend against Coquitlam at home, losing 3-0 on Saturday before turning it around with a 5-2 win on Sunday.

Powell River 4-2 in Nanaimo on Friday, and 12-5 in Cowichan against the league leading Capitals.

PRINCE GEORGE PLAYER TO WATCH

#18 Ben Vreugdenhil – the 2006 born forward helps league a tall and strong forward group for Prince George, and has helped his team continue their strong play down the stretch into the final weekend of the regular season. The pride of Frankford, Ontario has two goals and 5 assists over his last 5 games, and will look to help his team finish the regular season strong this weekend.

POWELL RIVER PLAYER TO WATCH

#11 Max Bleicher – the first year BCHL defenceman has been a key cog for his Powell River team this season in an up and down campaign. Bleicher represented Germany at the World Junior Championships in Minnesota, and has carried on his form since the New Year. He now has three goals and two assists over the last 5 games, and will look to continue his strong offensive play in his team’s two final games of the season.

RIVERMEN PLAYER TO WATCH

#12 Andreas Mikrogiannakis – the first year Rivermen forward returned to the lineup on Friday against the Chilliwack Chiefs after being out for a month with a lower body injury. Mikrogiannkis recorded an assist in all three games for Langley, and his speed and skill will help the Rivermen heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
