Township of Langley, BC, Thursday, November 29, 2012: The Langley Rivermen Junior “A” Hockey Club is has announced a trade with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. The Rivermen have acquired forward Nathan Craft (1994 born) for future considerations.
Craft is a Kitimat, B.C. Native and has played in 24 games this season recording five goals and five assists. The previous year he played in the BC Major Midget League for the Cariboo Cougars and had a fantastic season registering 27 goals and 21 assists in 35 games.
“Nathan is a guy that we noticed a lot when we saw Alberni earlier in the year. He has decent size, likes the physical play and has great touch around the net,” said Rivermen Head Coach and GM Bobby Henderson.
Craft is a winger that stands at 6’0”, 191 pounds and the Rivermen coaching staff believes that he will be a great fit on the roster,
“Alberni earlier in the year had him in a top six role and ever since he has been rotating throughout the line-up. We will give him plenty of opportunity to prove himself and we expect good things from him.”
Coach Henderson was quick to point out what he likes about the 18 year-olds’ game, but the thing he was impressed with the most was his combination of grit and skill,
“Players like him are hard to come by now days. He is a power forward that brings a lot to the table and when he finds his niche with us he will be a hard player to stop,” finished Henderson.
Oddly enough Craft’s first game will be against his former club this Saturday at the Weyerhaeuser Arena.
The Rivermen are on the road for the next couple of weeks, but are back at the Langley Events Centre for three straight home games starting on December 14th (versus Coquitlam), December 15th (versus Chilliwack), and December 16th (versus Powell River).
