Rivermen Run into Hot Goaltender, Fall to Prince George

Township of Langley (Thursday, December 18, 2014) – The Langley Rivermen’s four game-winning streak came to an end as the Prince George Spruce Kings walked away with a 3-1 victory on Thursday night at the Langley Events Centre.

The Rivermen ran into a hot goaltender as Jesse Jenks stopped 43 shots as Prince George now sits two points back of Langley for second place in the Mainland Division.

The Spruce Kings started the scoring when Jeremiah Luedtke netted his 12th of the season, deflecting a shot from the point. As the first period was winding down, Matthew Graham tied things up as he jammed home a puck past Jenks with 36 seconds remaining in the frame.

The second period saw the lone goal which would end up being the game winner as Spruce Kings forward Jake LeBrun was left alone in the slot and roofed one on Rivermen goaltender Bo Didur to make it 2-1. Prince George would add an empty net late in the third period to seal the deal as LeBrun would score his second of the night.

Didur played another stellar game, stopping 34 of 36 shots as the Spruce Kings produced a number of quality scoring chances throughout the game.

It’s Day 2 of Rivmas tomorrow when the Rivermen host the Powell River Kings for a 7:00PM face-off at the LEC. Fans get in free and receive a 5-dollar food voucher to use at the game.
