Rivermen’s 3rd Annual Teddy Bear Toss

Langley, BC – On December 14th it’s the Rivermen’s 3rd annual Teddy Bear Toss at the Langley Events Centre, so bring a teddy and get in free to watch the Rivermen take on the Powell River Kings at 7:15pm. The teddy’s are to be thrown onto the ice following the Rivermen’s first goal of the game and will be donated to Langley Memorial Hospital.

The Teddy Bear Toss has become a Christmas tradition in hockey arenas across North America as the LEC and Rivermen want to see you out to provide a furry friend for those in need. It’s a tradition that started back in 1995 and since then more and more hockey teams across the country have gotten on board with the event. In 2007, a World Record was set for the most teddy bears collected as the capacity crowd of just over 17,000 showered the ice with 26,919 stuffed bears.

Teddy Bear Toss Night also features a marquee matchup as the Powell River Kings make their only visit to the LEC this year. The Kings are at the top of the BCHL as they will battle it out with the Rivermen who lead the BCHL Mainland Division and have been one of the hottest teams in the league of late.

Come out to the LEC and bring a teddy bear or two Saturday December 14th and you get in free to watch two of the best teams fight it out for the top spot in the BCHL before heading into the holiday season. Fans are encouraged to bring as many bears as they have to the event to help support the Langley community.

Remember your ticket to the game is a Teddy Bear!
