Riv Double Up Chiefs

Langley, BC – The Langley Rivermen scored four straight goals to down the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs 4-2 at the LEC for the Rivermen's fifth win in their last six games.

Viktor Dombrovskiy scored his first goal on the season on the power play 6:07 into the third from Kevan Kilistoff, a goal that proved to be the eventual game winner as the Rivermen cap off a four game in five day schedule with a big six points.

Despite outshooting the Chiefs 18-14 in the first period, Chilliwack took the early lead 1-0 heading into the second.  The Rivermen started the second on a carryover power play and despite not connecting on the man advantage used their extended zone time as Kilistoff scored his fourth of the season to tie the game at one just 28 seconds in.  Nine minutes later Matt Ustaski gave the Rivermen the lead with his second shorthanded goal and 13th tally of the season as he stole the puck at centre and went in on a breakway beating Josh Halpenny.

Dombrovskiy's third period goal was followed up by Will Cook's eighth of the season as he stole the puck deep in Chilliwack's zone and patiently waited, sliding it underneath Halpenny's right pad to give Langley a three goal lead.  The Chiefs got one back in the final minute of the third on a 5-on-3 power play but it was just too little too late.

It was a spirited affair at the LEC with three fights and a total of 78 minutes in penalties.  The win is the Rivermen's third of the season against their division rivals from Chilliwack as Langley improves to 19-10-1-2 on the season atop the Mainland division.

Brock Crossthwaite was solid in net once again for Langley winning his fifth straight start with 32 saves as the Rivermen outshot Chilliwack 41-34.

Langley is back on the road next weekend with stops in Trail Friday night and Salmon Arm on Saturday.
