Win Streak Ends in West K

West Kelowna, BC – The Langley Rivermen saw their win streak come to an end with a 5-1 loss to the West Kelowna Warriors Saturday night. The Rivermen end their three game road trip with four out of a possible six points and remain atop the BCHL’s Mainland division.

With the Rivermen playing their third game in four nights and racking up plenty of miles on the bus, the Warriors, who had been off since Tuesday, took a 2-0 lead in the first, outshooting the Rivermen 13-4 after 20 minutes. The Warriors added to their lead midway through the second, shorthanded, when Matt Anholt pounced on a loose puck low in the slot.

Seb Lloyd connected on the power play to put the Warriors up 4-0 early in the third before the Rivermen broke Andy Desautel’s shutout bid at the 10:33 mark as Jakob Reichert scored on the power play from James Robinson and Marcus Vela. But that was the only Rivermen shot that found the back of the net while the Warriors added another in the final minute.

West Kelowna outshot the Rivermen 46-21 while Steve Myland made some incredible saves in his return to Royal LePage Place. Reichert’s goal extends his point streak to six games while Robinson’s assist gives him points in seven straight.

Langley is now 18-10-1-2 on the season as the Rivermen are right back at it Sunday afternoon hosting the Chilliwack Chiefs at the Langley Events Centre.
