The Streak Ends at 6

Langley, BC – The Rivermen’s hot streak comes to an end at 6 as they lose their first game of the month to the Chilliwack Chief’s 3-0 on Wednesday night (October 16). The Rivermen fall to 9-4-0-1 as the Chief’s improve to 2-7-1-1 and win their first game since September 14th.

From the beginning of the game the Rivermen found themselves in penalty trouble and they were never able to find any rhythm. The Chief’s got on the board late in the first period with two quick goals, with the second one coming on the power play. The Rivermen gave the Chief’s 9 power play opportunities as they were unable to avoid the penalty box in this one.

The Rivermen struggled to turn things around in the second period as they made more trips to the penalty box and found themselves in a 2-0 hole heading into the final frame. The Rivermen did take a power play of their own into the 3rd but they were unable to generate any good scoring chances. The rest of final period was filled with more penalties that negated any chance of a comeback for the Rivermen tonight.

A streak was bound to end for one of these teams tonight as the Rivermen came in having won 6 in a row and the Chief’s had lost 6 straight. The Rivermen will try and start a new streak this weekend as they host Penticton on Saturday October 19th at 7:15pm followed by a 2pm game on Sunday October 20th against Prince George.
