Seasoned BCHL Mentor Appointed as New Associate HC and Associate GM for the Langley Rivermen

Langley, BC – June 13, 2023 – The Langley Rivermen proudly announce the appointment of Tyler Kuntz as the team’s new Associate Head Coach & Associate General Manager, signaling a significant bolstering of their leadership team.

Burt Henderson, Head Coach and General Manager of the Rivermen, praises Kuntz’s addition, stating, “Tyler’s wealth of experience, both on and off the ice, is unrivaled. His unwavering dedication to the sport and remarkable track record underscore his commitment. We eagerly anticipate the fresh insights he will bring to our coaching staff and his impact on our players.”

Kuntz, respected for his lengthy and wide-ranging coaching career, has made significant contributions to hockey across multiple leagues over the past fifteen years. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership and adaptability, holding a variety of critical coaching positions. As Head Coach at the University of British Columbia, Kuntz considerably broadened his coaching expertise and made a notable impact. His tenure as Assistant Coach for the Vancouver Giants, showcased his ability to cultivate player development, highlighting yet another aspect of his multifaceted skill set.

Continuing his journey, Kuntz expanded his expertise into management, successfully taking on the dual roles of Head Coach and General Manager with the Powell River Kings. This tenure underscores his remarkable ability to lead and strategize within the hockey community.

Most recently, Kuntz led the U18 program at St. George’s School as Head Coach, showcasing his commitment to fostering young talent and his adaptability to different coaching environments. His wide-ranging experience provides him with a deep understanding of the sport at multiple levels, solidifying his role as an invaluable addition to the Rivermen.

Graduating from UBC with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics, Kuntz leverages his academic foundation and firsthand experience in the sport to shape his coaching philosophy. His playing career is equally distinguished, with his time on the ice for UBC and the BCHL Burnaby Bulldogs. He also completed stints in the United States and Germany, further enhancing his international experience. This varied and global player history provides Kuntz with a unique understanding of the game, contributing to his holistic and worldwide perspective on coaching.
