Langley, BC – The Langley Rivermen will be looking to build on their strong road trip as they get set for back to back home games starting tonight at 7:15pm (October 5) against Surrey and tomorrow afternoon at 2pm (October 6) against Alberni Valley. The Rivermen finished up their 5 game road trip with a 4-3 win over Surrey last night, ending their road trip with a 3-2 record.
It’s been a back and forth battle between the Rivermen and the Eagles so far this season with both games being decided by just one goal. In their last meeting the Eagles won 5-4 in overtime but the Rivermen outshot them 52-24. The season series is now tied 1-1 after the Rivermen’s road win and tonight they will host the Eagles for the first time this season at the Langley Events Centre with a chance to take the series lead.
The Rivermen will then be looking to avenge a 4-3 loss to Alberni Valley on Sunday afternoon as they host the Bulldogs in their second meeting of the season. The Bulldogs currently sit last in the Island Division of the BCHL with their only win coming against the Rivermen.
The Rivermen have had a good start to the season with a record of 5-3-0-1 which is good enough for 2nd in the Mainland Division two points behind Prince George, but the Rivermen do have a game in hand. The Rivermen could move into a tie for first with a win tonight along with a Prince George loss.
The Rivermen continue to be led by Captain Mitch Mclain who has 4 goals and 9 assists on the season as Mclain will be looking to lead his team to their 3rd straight win and their first win at the Langley Events Centre. It’s a busy month at home for the Rivermen who play 8 of their next 10 games at home, as they have a great opportunity to build on their strong start.
Tonight’s game against Surrey starts at 7:15pm followed by a 2pm game against Alberni Valley tomorrow and you can catch all the action at the LEC. Also following Sunday’s game remember to stick around for a skate with the Rivermen after the game.
